Physicians for Informed Consent Releases New Collection of Educational Documents; States “MMR Vaccine Has Not Been Proven Safer Than Measles, Mumps and Rubella”

Most measles, mumps and rubella cases are benign.

Before the mass vaccination program was introduced, fatality and permanent disability from measles, mumps and rubella were rare in the United States.

1. 1 in 93,000 or 0.001% of measles cases with normal levels of vitamin A resulted in permanent disability or death

2. 1 in 66,000 or 0.002% of mumps cases were fatal or resulted in permanent disability

3. 1 in 210,000 or 0.0005% of rubella cases contracted after birth were fatal

Immunity from the MMR vaccine wanes over time. Amongst vaccinated #children

1. About 60 percet are susceptible to #infection and spread of measles by age 15

2. About 50 percent are susceptible to infection and spread of mumps within 19 years

3. More than 30 percent are susceptible to infection and spread of rubella within 15 years

Safety studies of the MMR vaccine are lacking in statistical power. A review of more than 60 MMR vaccine studies conducted for the Cochrane Library states, “The design and reporting of safety outcomes in MMR vaccine studies, both pre-and post-marketing, are largely inadequate.”

The Institute of Medicine (IOM), now National Academy of Medicine (NAM), has not ruled out the possibility that MMR vaccination can lead to neurological disorders (e.g., encephalopathy, meningitis, ataxia, transverse myelitis, optic neuritis, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, brachial neuritis, and hearing loss), autoimmune diseases (e.g., chronic arthritis), fibromyalgia, and #chronic #fatigue syndrome.

Seizures from the MMR vaccine occur in about 1 in 640 children, which is about five times more than seizures from measles infection.

The MMR vaccine has not been proven safer than measles, mumps and rubella.
