In fact, online interest for ‘home décor styles’ has increased by 110%*, suggesting that homeowners are looking to transform their abodes to their liking.
Interested in this, the experts at Uswitch.com/mortgages were curious to unfold how interior design takes shape across Europe. By analysing online interest for the 15 most popular interior styles on Pinterest, they were able to unveil the most-loved interior design trend across Europe.

Uswitch.com/mortgages can reveal that Bohemian interior is the most popular in Germany, as average searches within the country hit 158,880 in the past year. This unconventional and free-spirited way to style homes has been a favourite among Germans, with online interest being 36.6% higher than Scandinavian interior style, which comes in second place (100,800 searches).
Vintage comes in third (89,880 searches), suggesting how a retro look for homes that brings back nostalgia is gaining traction in Germany. Defined by its sleek, clean lines, the contemporary style (45,360 searches), however, falls way behind in popularity, as it received 49.5% less online interest than vintage.
Rounding off the top five most-loved interiors by Germans is shabby chic. This laid-back, worn look for the home has been searched for up to 36,720 times in Germany over the past year, which almost doubles the number of online interest for a fuss-free minimalist décor in sixth (19,200 searches).

Uswitch.com/mortgages can reveal that Scandinavian décor is Europe’s most on-trend interior style, with the highest combined searches (529,860) across all countries analysed. The Nordic-inspired décor was found to be most popular in France, the Netherlands, and Poland, with the French (137,520 searches) showing the most interest in adding a Scandi flair to their homes - a notable 26.7% more than Germans (100,800).
Bohemian takes second place as the most popular interior style in Europe, garnering 501,480 searches annually - 5.7% fewerthan Scandinavian in first. The boho style came out on top in six European countries, suggesting how a mismatch of colours and textures for a care-free bohemian vibe has drawn people in. 63.9% of the total searches for this style in Europe are primarily from Germany, Finland, and the United Kingdom.
In third place is vintage décor which has accumulated 398,760 combined searches over the past year - 25.8% less than second place Bohemian. Gaining the most popularity in Hungary and Greece, a vintage home interior has managed to be among the top three favourite interior trends in 45% of the countries studied. This includes Germany where the vintage style came out as the country’s third favourite (89,880 searches).
